UNCA Global Citizen of the Year Award

United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) Global Citizen of the Year Award, presented by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his work in HIV/AIDS and for addressing key issues that affect young people around the world.

The United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) Annual Awards Gala Dinner was held at UN Delegates Dining Room, New York on December 4, 2009.
Held by the UNCA which is a professional organization of journalists from dozens of countries covering the U.N., the gala dinner was also attended by the U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moom, who presented Excellence in Journalism Awards and the Citizen of the World Award to Bill Roedy. He also honored the dedication all U.N. correspondents have made during the year.

The event, joined by not only the U.N. Secretary General but also actor Nicolas Cage, who won the Citizen of the World Award, received tremendous media attention.
